If you have seen ads for "Reno's Grill", you should avoid this place like the plague.
I used to be the owner of this restaurant from July 09 to November 09.
While in my possession, the business grew tremendously and we got rave reviews!
So why did I decide to sell?
I wanted to get away from this place because of DAVE MURRY.

Dave Murry owns the bar next door that is connected to the restaurant.
He opened the restaurant at a loss of over $120K for the purpose applying for a new SUP permit to help his bar
avoid some new city ordinances.
He failed miserably.
The truth is that Reno's Bar has not done well either, he claims he has lost over $300K in the bar so far.

He leased the restaurant to a woman who opened a soul food place and it failed also.
Truth is I was the only person who ever turned a profit with this place.
While in my possession we were given the highest health rating of any other restaurant in Deep Ellum.

The trouble started when I disagreed with Dave's choice of paint job for the building.
I wanted to create a more family friendly atmosphere but Dave wanted to make the place look like a tattoo parlor.
Against my will, he painted my nice red building yellow with brown flaming skulls on the side.
When I protested he told me "this is my place, even though you pay me rent I can still do anything I want, if you don't like it then leave".
When I told him I was going to repaint it myself he became enraged.
He burst through the door of my kitchen and started picking up my customers plates of food and throwing them against the wall!
He made threats to me telling me that I was "going home in a body bag" if I meddled in his business, etc.
The bar is horribly mismanaged and bleeding money.
Despite my growing sales, I could not stay in business with someone like this.
I also heard rumors that he was planning not to renew my lease so that he could take over what I had built
and screw me out of the place.
So to beat him to the punch I put it up for sale.

I offered the entire inventory and turn key restaurant for $25K.
Karl Hass offered me $20K and I accepted, but at the signing he renegotiated our hand shake deal and screwed me out of another $2500.
I accepted because I wanted out as soon as possible.
Karl and his nephew Chris foolishly tossed out my entire menu and food stock and started from scratch.
They sold a tiny ridiculous menu designed for the wrong clientele.
They however keep the name of my famous reviewed "Blacktooth Burger" but they changed the recipe and ruined it.
I asked them to stop using the name but they refused.
I had about $12K in sales my last full month in business, they haven't sold that much in 3 months combined.
Now they are trying to sell the place.

Dave Murry has refused to give me back my $2500 deposit for no other reason that he wants to rip me off.
That's how he does business.

So do not buy this restaurant.
Do not do business with Dave Murry.
Do not patron the restaurant or the bar.
If you are a band, never book yourself there because you will not get paid.
Avoid this place like the plague!!!
